There are some undertones in the narrative regarding Night Elves and also the Infinite Dragonflight. It feels like an old school DnD campaign with a WoW tint. It's a lot of fun but it's not a very serious narrative; the narrative isn't taking itself too seriously ...I started playing during very late WOTLK and stopped before the last patch of Cata. I was playing on a RP server. Then a few years later I think I saw the Legion cinematic and a recommendation for a Legion themed video by Taliesin&evitel and I wanted to know what is going on. It seems the rumors were true. The leak claims the new expansion will send players to a brand-new continent called Avaloren, which has plenty of pre-established ties Warcraft lore. I liked to imagine some Orc Mages were penitent Warlocks, but younger ones were likely just interested in magic and had plenty of opportunities to study Arcane in the modern Horde. To solve the extinction issue the Forsaken can now pledge an oath (likely to the Horde) to serve in death however many times they die. Many of the issues that arrive in lore characters about the undead center around consent, or being raised against their will. With this change no longer are Forsaken raised unwillingly, it's an opt in service.

Draenei is a bit of a toss up between protection and holy, same with dwarves and tauren. Humans are often the jack of all trades and are the easiest to fit into an identity because they often have the widest spectrum of personality. Zandalari is really the only hard pick to me, but I'd say protection.Demon hunters came first but I think a lot of the more recent lore undercut the older focus on demon hunters being very magically powerful. Illidan himself was a mage first, after all. He's basically just a warlock that then decided to also be a melee guy. You're right, but a Necromancer focuses more exclusively on necromancy, while Warlocks utilize any magic that would give them power. Take Ner'zuhl for example, who can be seen as both a warlock and necromancer. While ingame Warlocks focus more on fel and demons ingame, necromancy could easily be a warlock specialization.
