It does not have any other markings that I can see other than T/C’s name and city/state and “Cal .54” it does not say “HAWKEN” or have any warning info on it. Serial number does start with “K”. The barrel is 28" and it has a 1-48 twist with a walnut stock. High grade walnut stock. I shoot 70 gr. of 3f black powder with 490 rb. 15 th. patch.
I was playing with my New Englander this weekend at 50 yards using Lee 50 caliber 440 pistol bullet and Lee 50 Caiber Minie both paper patched. Charge was using 60-90 grains of 777 in 10 grain increments . Reaction score. 57. Aug 18, 2014. #3. My .50 caliber T/C Renegades and Hawken rifles like 80 grain of 2f Black Powder. A .490 (never a .495 its too tight) and patch. If your shooting Pyrodex RS then 80-85 grains will be fine. Triple Seven 2f I shoot 70 grains of it. And I use a wad between the powder and the patch.
In a TC Hawken 50 cal a good starting point would be, .490 balls, .015 patches with good lube, 70-ish gr. of 2f BP. Once you get used to shooting it and establish a baseline for accuracy, you can vary things to tighten up your groups. This is what seems to work in MY gun, yours may have different preferences.

They were very helpful to me when I needed information on a Hawken I owned. Their contact info. is listed on their website.I have seen retail stores asking as much as $600.00 for a Hawken which is insanity. A used rifle depends on the condition and the caliber. The .45 caliber is getting rare. They are good roundball shooters. Get some .440 round ball and patch.
